'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the thrilling closing stages of his team's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles amid the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from distance, and the defender promptly hammered in the deflection before charging toward the home end to revel in the moment, with the crowd swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This completed an incredible recovery given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the latter period. In the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result booked a next round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for having a go from that range," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after the team changed tactics. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the City players who praised the way the underdogs played positively.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the simple things and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they always find their target and they are adept at manage and neutralize a game. You can think you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a strong mentality and concentration just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has quickly done the same in south Wales. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford City, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without much intensity. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that growth for club and country, performing well for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including two matches fixtures against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This represents quite the ride for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his parent, his father, also a central player, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's only game for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was sealed owing to the weather of -15C. "It was a long trip and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it became apparent where I thought I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm slowly climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with a teammate, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to spend time with the guys but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual out of the minibus and on the road. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on public transport after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
